TWIRP

TWIRP is a dance hosted by the Sophomore class. This casual event is the annual 2018 Sports-A-Rama preliminary and is attendance based, meaning that the class with the most attendees will win the event.

PENNY WARS

Penny Wars is a competition where the classes try to raise the most money, but there's a catch - every single cent must be converted to rolled pennies! All of the money goes to the respective class' funds.

Classes decorate their respective sides of the gym according to their theme. Staff judges choose which class has the best decorations.

16 males and 16 females line up on the respective side of the rope and the position of the flag determines who wins. This event is divided into two heats.

 SKATE NIGHT

Skate Night is an SAR preliminary event and is attendance based. The Mira Loma community comes together for a night of fun Foothill Skating Inn for two hours accompanied by music, games, and skating! Half of the ticket sales go to the class' funds.

 MATA-FAN

Mata-Fan is a SAR preliminary. For this event, students, family, and friends attend one designated boys basketball game and one designated girls basketball home game. This event occurs over the course of two days and is attendee-based.

OBSTACLE COURSE

2 guys and 2 girls participate in a relay through the obstacle course. Places are determined by the class’s combined time. Penalties are noted for skipped or botched elements.

CATERPILLAR COUNTRY

15 males and females race to the center of the court and form a caterpillar. Girls and boys, one at a time, will crawl over the caterpillar and sit on the furthest free guy’s back in the row. First team to complete the caterpillar wins.

MATABOX

Matabox is an event where the goal is to fit as many students as possible in a 6 foot by 6 foot square, often involving a combination of shoulder sits and intense strategizing. Students must hold themselves in their positions for one minute and penalties are given if the boundaries of the square are broken.

OBSTACLE COURSE V.2

THE NEWEST EVENT OF SAR! 2 guys and 2 girls participate in a TAG TEAM relay through the obstacle course. This new obstacle course, V2, involves skill, technique, and speed compared to the original athletic obstacle course.

BROOMBALL

Broomball is an event where classes play against one another in a hockey-inspired game during lunch in the big gym. This is one of the most well-known events of Sports-A-Rama and is very exciting to watch.

Bull Pull is an event where classes compete against each other to get the best time pulling themselves across the gym using rope while traveling on double-scooterboards.

BASKETBALL RELAY

2 classes at a time will send 4 guys and 4 girls to the gym floor in order to participate in a layup relay. Each member must dribble to the one end of the court, make a layup, then return back and make another layup. They will then pass the ball off to the next team member. The fastest time wins.

IZZY DIZZY

In this penalty kick shoot out, the shooter must spin 10 times around a bat and the goalie 8 before attempting to either make or stop a goal. Places are determined by the number of goals made.

STATUE/MUSICAL

In this final event, in which every SAR member must participate, each class presents a musical performance. These displays must revolve around their chosen theme and may involve a storyline

ROLL-Y PULL-Y 

2 classes compete simultaneously to complete the "Matapede” relay-style. 6 students sitting on scooters pulled by 3 other students, the quickest time wins.

CRAB SOCCER 

Participants compete in this offshoot of soccer with a 5’ diameter ball. They play while crab walking and must not use their hands. A goal is scored when the ball hits the opposing team’s wall. Games are 4 minutes long. If there is a tie, the next goal scored will win the game.​​

HAPPY FEET 

This event involves 20 people from each class, sitting down across the gym floor. One person from each class will "feed" a frisbee into the beginning of the line and the participants will maneuver the frisbee using only their feet across the line.
